I'm Pastuso and what! is an ethnographic research work on visual anthropology directed and produced by Bernardo Javier Tobar, professor of the Department of Economic Sciences of the University of Cauca, it has been carried out since 2010 and consists of giving an approach from anthropology to two great musicians from the department from Nariño who left a great musical and cultural legacy: Luis Chato Guerrero and Hipólito Jojoa.

The audiovisual nominated for Best Feature Film at the Pasto Festival 2022, and Best Feature Film Director at the Pasto International Festival 2022, was presented in auditorium 401 of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences, with the support of the Doctorate in Ethnobiology and Biocultural Studies, among other entities.

“These musicians leave a fundamental contribution that has to do with traditional and popular themes that today become a cultural heritage of the region. They are currently taken up by all the groups and have become classic traditional themes of Nariño music referring to festive and popular culture”, said Professor Bernardo Javier Tobar.

He added that the documentary will soon be available on platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo. “I believe that regions like Cauca, Putumayo and Nariño are very rich in the cultural, creative, artistic and musical aspects. But, unfortunately, we do not know them and neither do we know who the creators of these manifestations are. What this documentary mainly tries to delve into is to show the lives of these people who have left a deep heritage but unfortunately due to the market, globalization and their way of operating in the media does not make these people and their cultural heritage visible. ”, concluded the teacher.
