The international event begins in Unicauca

Plots and Mingas for Good LivinSpeakers from Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina meet to discuss and reflect on social problems.

According to teacher Bernardo Javier Tobar, coordinator of the Master of Interdisciplinary Development Studies, Maeid -organizer of the event every two years- has for their third version guests from different Latin American countries.

For three days, attendees will participate in four workshops related to topics such as community work, mining, water economy and its relation to community problems, autonomic processes, educations, and communications.

"We are promoting dialogical and intercultural encounters that will mobilize ideas and processes, both attentive to social issues such as the potentials and assemblages that communities inhabiting the global-south have historically demonstrated", said Professor Tobar.

The Maeid thrives on the dynamics of other academic practices, including indigenous communities, so it is going to make a tribute to the leaders and Javier Calambás Avelino Dagua the community Misak, José Domingo Tombé Township Jambaló and Mario López, the Coconuco guard.

"They have played a very important role in their own processes and are intellectuals who have done research and processes towards the strengthening of the culture and identity of the Latin American people," he said.

The academic event will take place until next Wednesday, June 11, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
