La Universidad -

For eight weeks, students entering the first semester of 2020 in the programs of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences will receive guidance related to institutional dynamics and professional performance.

Students entering the first semester of the Agro-industrial Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Forestry Engineering programs began this week the introduction to university life, through informative talks related to institutional aspects, services provided, course orientation, training in regulations and standards, among others.

“The introduction to university life course seeks to raise awareness of university dynamics and the actions that are carried out with the communities, taking into account that the Universidad del Cauca is committed to the welfare of students and the high quality of their careers” , explained the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Luis Alfredo Londoño.

He added that new students will learn about the different institutional issues through insertion and adaptation to university life, in a training that will be held from Monday to Friday for four hours a day for eight weeks, ending on Friday, April 4, 2020. It is noteworthy that in some cases some vocational subjects will be approved as an introduction to engineering and training sports.

"Inspired to solve the problem of dropping out of students this appointment is fulfilled, since it is important that students know their university vocation, we also want to level competencies in areas that have flaws and make known the services they have in the University", the Dean clarified.

This faculty is one of the youngest with 25 years serving the communities, but it is one of the faculties with greater dynamism in research in the productive sector since it has implicit social interaction.

During the opening day, students and parents attended, who highlighted the importance of this approach to university life aimed at the new members of the university. “The University of Cauca is the best university in the Colombian Southwest and as a parent I believe in higher education and in the great name that the University of Cauca has to contribute to the agricultural sector and move forward with Colombian agriculture, and that is achieved by through academic preparation to face this social challenge, ”said Jairo Torres, a father who came from Putumayo to accompany his daughter who began studies in Agro-industrial Engineering.

For Miguel Ángel Charro, who is going to study Agricultural Engineering from the municipality of Inzá, the University of Cauca is the best option to acquire the necessary knowledge, not only for its farm but also for the development that the department needs in agricultural matters.
