The Mocoa UNICAUCA Master in Education Modality Deepening classes are resumed.

The Scholarships for Teaching Excellence program a Cauca University and National Ministry of Education agreement has resumed academic work after being suspended due to the tragedy registered in the capital of Putumayo. At the same time, aid was given to the disaster victims.

Due to the natural catastrophe that occurred last March 31st at night and on April 1st at dawn, where Mocoa was flooded by the Mulato and Sancoyaco rivers, leaving hundreds of dead and missing people many families were affected, it was necessary to temporarily suspend the academic activities of the Master's Degree in Education Mode.

 

After a month and on April 18th of this year, the Faculty of Exact Natural Sciences and Education Advisory Body granted the right to resume classes in the second semester of the Master's Degree in Education Mode May 5th in the Mocoa Municipality.
 

Thus, four teachers from the in-depth program and two members of the Scholarship Program for Teaching Excellence were transferred to the city of Mocoa in order to start classes and conduct conversations with the fellows regarding their physical and psychological state, present the new schedule of activities, and identify 25 families affected in order to deliver groceries and cleaning items.

 

Twelve selected families from the Fray Plácido Educational Institution, at the Sauces were benefitted. The institution provides its facilities to develop academic activities of the graduate program. Thirteen families from the San Fernando and San Miguel neighborhoods were selected by some of the affected victims on the scholarship.

 

We are grateful to the Buga, Florencia scholarship holders, the Scholarship Program for Teaching Excellence Team of the University of Cauca, to Óscar Armando Erazo teacher and the student of the tenth semester of the Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education with emphasis in Natural Sciences, Sandra Lorena Guauña, for her support so that this aid could be delivered.
