Students from the University of Cauca won the Startup Weekend Popayán

The ICT Hotbed of Entrepreneurship , Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, took first place in the event.

Yeison Boxes, Jhamil Fernández , Andrea Bermeo, Armando Ceron , July Ulcué , Diego Sanchez and Yilmer Narvaez, students and graduates of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering , Systems Engineering , Business Administration and Graphic Design, were the winners .

Students participated with the idea of ​​a video game called Celebrity Race, worked  for 54 hours of the event with the completion of a compelling elevator pitch .

The group had a minimum viable product that exceeded the expectations of juries , demonstrating the importance of interdisciplinary work, validation with potential users and customers, and committed work to materialize the ideas.

Startup Weekend takes place in different parts of the world and people from different disciplines interested in entrepreneurship form teams around ideas, receive mentoring and are evaluated by experts with national and international experience in entrepreneurship, technology, business, marketing, communication, among others.

The seedbed for entrepreneurship in ICT is a group of students, alumni, administrators and teachers from different programs of the institution, which seeks to promote entrepreneurial culture focused on ICT, to help develop the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation at the University and region.
