With support from Unicauca the third edition of The Museum Catalogue Network of Cauca was presented.

As part of International Museum Day commemoration, the Mayor of Popayán and the University of Cauca launched the third edition of the Cauca Museum Catalogue Network.

 

The presentation, held during a cultural event on Monday May 22nd, at the Guillermo Valencia National Museum was enlivened by a clarinet concert from the a duo of the University of Cauca Music Department, made up Juan Sebastián and Jaime Alberto Ramírez Fajardo - brothers.

 

The event was attended by the Popayán mayor, César Cristian Gómez Castro; The Secretary of Sport and Culture of the Municipality, Briceida Rodríguez; The Vice-President of Culture and Welfare of Alma Máter, Deibar René Hurtado, together with the directors of the museums of the University of Cauca, and representatives of the museum institutions of Cauca.

 

Political scientist José Fernando Parra, coordinator of the Cauca Museum Network, recalled that this network was created on September 24th, 2010, through a will agreement between directors and officials of the Guillermo Valencia National Museum Guillermo Valencia, the Archdiocesan Museum of Religious Art , the Guillermo León Valencia Casa Museo, Negret & MIAMP Casa Museo, and for the three museums from the University of Cauca: Casa Museo Mosquera, Museum of Natural History and Pantheon of the Proceres, who united efforts to generate a common welfare.

 

He emphasized that, with the support of the Cauca Culture Coordination, the training was carried out in 'Guiones Museológicos' guided by the National Museum Network, with the participation of the museum institutions of several Cauca municipalities. He also indicated that in order to disseminate the existing heritage in museums, in 2010, they were marketed with tourist guides from the Cauca governor’s office and the Museum Network where it was formally admitted to the Departmental Tourism Board.

 

According to Parra, based on the guidelines of the national policy and with the support of the National Museums Network, the "Strategic Plan for the Cauca Museum Institutions: 2011-2015" was formulated, whose activities are developed thanks to the governmental and private institution alliance.

 

Finally, in 2011, an alliance was made with the Cambridge Institute to offer translation services to English during easter, for the institutions that make up the Museums Network.
