Unicauca and the Cajibio Mayor get together to strengthen synergies

Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences members met with Luis Elmer Vivas Manzano - Cajibio mayor, members of his Government team, and business owners in the area of ​​ecotourism, to draw a plan that allows join efforts aiming at the projection of the region in the social, environmental and economic areas with strong support from the institution.

 

"We have agreed at the outset to accompany the Faculty of Accounting programs to carry out this process. Initially, there is an effort that has been made in the field of community tourism specialized in bird watching, and another concrete project that has the Department of Tourism," said Professor Carlos Enrique Corredor Jiménez, Department of Economic Sciences, and researcher of the Center Research, Promotion and Social Innovation for the Development of Caucana Caficultura.

 

According to the teacher, the idea is to expand what is being done in Cajibio with the other three faculty programs, which are Business Administration, Economics and Public Accounting.

 

Luis Elmer Vivas Manzano, mayor of the municipality of Cajibio expressed his gratitude for the willingness and sense of belonging that the University of Cauca has to the region, "the meeting we have had is very important, with the collaboration of the University to get ahead in many projects that we have in mind ".

 

The president added that the aim is that the installed work table be sustained over time and that efforts between the municipal government and academia, in addition to tourism, focus on agricultural initiatives and other ventures within which students and "Especially now in the peace process that we live because Cajibío is among the first 20 municipalities that were most affected by war."

 

Isabel González, Business Administration professor and Center for Studies and Services CES coordinator, said that from this dependence "the important thing is to articulate the professional practice processes that have the programs of the Faculty, and According to the projects they have ... we come to know where to go to socialize between the community and teachers and accompany the student in their decision to participate in these initiatives.

 

Hand in hand with the above will also strengthen the regionalization of the University in this area of ​​the Department.

 

According to Professor Carlos Enrique Corredor Jiménez, "this is a scenario that tells us that it is not only a question of offering undergraduate programs but also that we have to do research with the community, we must respond to their interests in relation to how our students can act and Professionals, and think that there are different training spaces such as education for human development that can be done through short courses and seminars that also give a space of participation to community processes.

 

The initiative also plans to be part of Tamer Donovan Anani, of the company 'In the Cauca Landscape and Culture', of tourist operation with focus on nature, and Ecoparque La Atlántida. Also at the meeting was a delegate from Banco Mundial Mujer.
