Unicauca employee represented Colombia in workshop on industrial property in Uruguay

Elena Rodríguez Méndez was selected by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce to assist on behalf of Colombia to the '2nd Regional Training Workshop of Trainers in Industrial Property: App Patent Drafting'.

 

Between the 8th and 12th May, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), development, in Montevideo , Capital of Uruguay, held the '2nd Regional Training Workshop of Trainers in Industrial Property: App Patent Drafting'.

 

She participated in this important activity by representing the University of Cauca's Center for Support to Technology and Innovation (CATI), and Colombia, Elena Rodríguez Méndez, Division of Innovation official, Entrepreneurship and Articulation with the Environment , within the Research Vice-Presidency Department of UNICAUCA.

 

A total of 31 specialists from 17 Ibero-American countries met to address the formula for successful patent applications, which came from the public and private sector, and addressed the keys to analyze and assess an invention’s scope and the possibilities of putting them in the market.

 

The main objective of the course was to improve and contribute to the protection processes of intellectual property in the region "by acquiring an improvement in the writing of the patent application and improvement in the coherence between the parts of the form memory, which description, claims and figures / drawings are properly harmonized and sustained. "

 

"The methodology was based on practical exercises and is part of the new strategy of WIPO to hold regional courses or workshops where trainers are trained, who in turn are responsible for disseminating knowledge gained in their respective localities, through various means, including the organization of national workshops," Elena Rodríguez Méndez said in her report.

 

After its presence in Uruguay, during a two month period the participants in the workshop will have to solve exercises facilitated by tutors, who will proceed to correct the exercises electronically and resolve all doubts that may arise.
