Unicauca held a conference about the challenges of higher education

La Universidad -

The Prospects of Higher Education in Colombia 'served as a space for reflection on the challenges of college in today's world.

The conference was led by Luis Enrique Orozco, professor of the University of Los Andes and director of the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education in Latin America, who spoke about the challenges that must be borne to reflect upon the necessary college in the country.

"It is necessary to understand that the new forms of knowledge production are research groups, its institutionalization in the sense of administration and management, is crossed with the interests of the agencies that fund research activities," he said.

Thus, companies are very attentive to the research products to the extent that knowledge has become a productive force and source of wealth in the world.

In this context, the University should consider what knowledge management is, its relevance and coherence with the forces of production, and its use and political importance in today's society.

New social demands from lower income strata and human formation that allows a political project forming the character and morals of the students are the remaining challenges in the training process.

It is important to understand that you must take risks in transforming institutions with funding pledged by governments for universities to fulfill their mission in today's world.

Hector Alejandro Sánchez, director of the Division of articulation with the Environment and member of the Bicentennial Plan Committee, said the conference is part of the activities scheduled to enrich the leaders of the Plan.

"We've had very important events: meetings with the Departmental Assembly and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education who provided a political reference, and this academic activity that allows us a very recognized voice in the processes of education and voice," he said.

The Bicentennial Plan document is located in the identification of variables, which is why at this time it is important to gather the views, experiences and suggestions from the university community and the environment.
