The event was attended by the university president José Luis Diago Franco, his team of vice-presidents; The faculty deans of Law, Political and Social Sciences; Natural Sciences, Exact and Education; Civil Engineering, and Agrarian Sciences, as well as teachers and administrative staff.

"Very pleased that the Regionalization project continues, and that we also continue to look for new alternatives for the financing of public education in the north of Cauca," said President José Luis Diago Franco.

To that end, he stressed that in order to look for alternatives and solutions to the challenges presented, the input of all students, parents, teachers and local and national authorities is needed. He further noted that "we seek to have funding from international funds to consolidate ourselves as a university for peace".

Finally, the President reminded students of the good news that a few weeks ago, with the signing of the Tripartite Agreement with the Cauca Government and the National Planning Department - DPS, the construction of the first stage of the University Citadel was guaranteed. Stone is expected to be placed in less than a month.

For his part, the Vice-president of Culture and Welfare, Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, said that the welcoming freshmen also aims to link students to the cultural and wellness activities.

"The idea is for us to be present through our own activities such as artistic expressions, sports and integral health, but also through the permanent model that we have to implement at headquarters, and through the direct link with parents as a very important training for their children," he said.

Meanwhile, the Academic Vice-President, Luis Guillermo Jaramillo, told the students that the University is committed to them and to the region "to tell them that we want them to understand as we are doing all the adaptation of the localities and the adaptations of the classrooms, the goal is to improve more and more. "

Professor Jaramillo, said that the University of Cauca "does not have an outstretched arm in Santander de Quilichao, but it has the heart extended, that is to say Santander beats in the Institution and what we want is that each time it is a strengthened venue where students can count not only with this locality but with our halls and spaces in Popayán. "
