Unicauca holds a conversation about digital transformation in Colombia

The event organized by the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, was attended by the companies Nexura International and Password Consulting Services and concluded with the need to integrate more students with the processes that are carried out in the ventures.

                               

In the facilities of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications of the University of Cauca, a conversation on Digital Transformation in Colombia was held this Friday, February 28, the event organized with the Research and Development Group in Information Technology GTI, had the participation of companies Nexura Internacional SAS and Password Consulting Services S.A.S.

 

“The event was coordinated together with the companies seeking to show how graduates of the FIET have taken the path of entrepreneurship, have managed over time to be successful entrepreneurs with clients nationally and internationally, share their experiences in digital transformation processes, In addition to guiding undergraduate and graduate students who attended the conversation in the development of similar processes in the exercise of their profession, ”said Professor PhD. Carlos Cobos, coordinator of the Research and Development Group in Information Technology.

 

This way, the event was initially developed with the first talk directed by the PhD. César Jesús Pardo Calvache, professor of the Systems Department of the University of Cauca, member of the GTI and director of the IRON Software Engineering Research Seedbed. His talk dealt with speeding up in support of the digital transformation of organizations. Then magister James Mauricio Martínez, manager of Nexura Internacional S.A.S. and entrepreneur for more than 17 years, who has served as one of the business leaders who has contributed to the digital transformation of the State and Companies, with the firm objective of improving processes and attention to citizens. His talk focused on the digital transformation at the service of citizens, showing the successful case of the transformation of the process of issuing passports in the Cauca Valley Governorate.

 

The cycle concluded with the intervention of the magister John Edinson Martínez García, graduated from the FIET and current Business Development Manager of Password Consulting Services SAS, who addressed the cybersecurity issue as a boost to digital transformation where he showed the importance of linking security as a key element to carry out an adequate process of digital transformation in companies.

 

The day ended with a conversation moderated by the PhD. Miguel Angles Niño Zambrano, professor at the University of Cauca and director of the Seedbed of research on the Internet of Things and Computational Intelligence (IoTIC). The space concluded with the need for companies to initiate digital transformation processes with the aim of being more competitive, changing the culture of the organization, a key element for the success of the transformation, and the use of agile approaches in all phases of the process to achieve progressive change and rapid results, which by being a  positive increase in the motivation of the team and by being negative allow rapid correction of the course.

 

The members of the GTI and the businessmen of Nexura and Password established the need to integrate more the students of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications with the processes that are carried out in the companies, for this reason, a process was planned for the month of May training from what is done in companies so that attendees know first-hand how they work and that the best are linked to develop their degree work, or work formally.
