The initiative promoted by the Vice-Rectory of research, Culture, and Well-being has the purpose of supporting students who are currently facing financial difficulties.

The Vice-Rectories of Research and of Culture and Well-being of the University of Cauca, came to solidarity as a human value par excellence, to join efforts with the directives, teachers and administrative staff of the Institution, in addition to citizens who wish to join this initiative that aims to surround the students who have been affected in their daily lives by COVID - 19.

 

The vice-rector of Research of the Alma Máter, Héctor Samuel Villada, in an interview with the informative “Unicauca al Día” Radio, said that the campaign "Sponsor a Student," is to support them in their basic needs such as food, rent, or an economic contribution to contribute to cover the costs of student insurance, transportation and personal hygiene of these young people in vulnerable condition.

 

“At the moment we are doing a survey of student information through the website of the Vice-Rector's Office for Culture and Welfare, a unit that is also receiving information in its email about people who want to sponsor a student; for this purpose, we have a list with the telephones of the students who are experiencing great difficulty and for those who are interested in supporting this cause to get in touch to establish how they can support us,” said the University Director.

 

In this process carried out by these Vice-Rectories, the people willing to offer their help can define what the support they are going to give to the young person they want to sponsor will be. These noble actions that link the university and citizen benchmarks are also very important to promote the permanence of vulnerable young people at the University.

 

In addition, it implies advancing in equal opportunities in education and generates favorable conditions in the training of students who face economic, social, cultural difficulties and can become a tool to overcome the circle of poverty, lack of training and social exclusion, concluded the vice-rector for Research at the Universidad del Cauca.
