Unicauca linked to higher education project of the European Commission

Professor Mario Solarte of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications participated in the start-up meeting of the project "Capacity building for the development of Teaching and Learning Centers for the Universities of Latin America in the 21st Century / PROF-XXI" that finances the European Commission and linking European and Latin American Higher Education Institutions.

 

The University of Cauca, through Professor Mario Solarte of the Department of Telematics, participated in the start-up meeting of the project "Capacity building for the development of Teaching and Learning Centers for Latin American Universities in the 21st Century / PROF-XXI "held at the Carlos III University of Madrid between January 30 and 31, 2020.

 

“PROF-XXI is a project to be developed in three years, funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus + program, coordinated by the Carlos III University of Madrid with the participation of European and Latin American partners such as the Toulouse III University Paul Sabatier (France) , Aberta University (Portugal), University of Cauca and San Buenaventura University (Colombia), Galielo University and San Carlos University (Guatemala), and its main objective is to build capacities for the installation of Teaching and Learning Centers as a basis for the modernization of the Higher Education Institutions of Latin America, ”said professor Mario Solarte.

 

University of Cauca is responsible for coordinating the development of Work Package 1 (Preparation) that covers the following deliverables:

 

Preparation of the diagnosis of institutional practices in relation to teaching and learning.

 

Development of the State of the Art of the Teaching and Learning Centers

 

Development of the Reference Framework “University Teachers of the 21st Century in Latin America”

 

This way, it will collaborate in the fulfillment of other Work Packages that includes Development, Quality, Dissemination and exploitation, and Management.

 

Throughout the project, it is expected to have results associated with:

 

Develop guides and models of Advanced and Innovative Teaching and Learning Centers (CEA) focused on the development of teaching competencies for the Latin American teacher in the 21st century, around three axes: pedagogy, technology and strategic management.

 

Install and / or align the CEA in the 4 Higher Education Institutions (HEI) of Guatemala and Colombia, to serve as a reference and promotion on effective and quality teaching for Latin American students in the 21st Century.

 

 

Develop management and innovation capabilities in CEA professionals installed to design and implement strategies, processes and tools that promote cultural changes in the teaching and learning of HEIs.

 

Develop and implement teacher training plans in the CEA for the use of technological devices and tools, with relevant impact, around three axes: active and hybrid methodologies; monitoring and evaluation strategies through learning analytics; and research on the teaching practice itself for continuous improvement.

 

Promote sustainable cooperation between Latin American and European HEIs, building a CEA network based on the structure, experience and learning of the MOOC-Maker Network (project also funded by the European Commission whose execution culminated at the end of 2018).

 

 The professor of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications concluded that the University of Cauca will host one of the coordination meetings of the project, scheduled for 2021.
