Unicauca participatively constructs its University Development Plan (UDF)

La Universidad -

After 8 focused workshops, this exercise was taken to an open setting with the development of the first open participatory workshop, which took place on October 4th at 2:00 pm in the Gregorio Caicedo auditorium at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The University of Cauca currently has several campuses in the city of Popayán, which has led to the need to analyze and assess their strengths and weaknesses to generate the University Development Plan (UDF). To initiate this, Phase I began, focusing on the development plan by addressing a dimensional diagnosis. The process begins with identifying various needs in physical infrastructure, land use, orderly growth, identity, environmental conditions, mobility, security, in the areas where the university operates.

"From the Office of Planning and Institutional Development, we continue to work on the construction of the University Development Plan, advancing in the formulation of the UDF through the development of focused workshops to validate the results obtained from the first phase."

The UDF is a planning tool for the physical development of the university and is part of a set of objectives, guidelines, strategies, goals, programs, actions, and norms adopted to guide and manage the physical development of the institution and land use.

Here's an update on our progress:

Eight focused socialization and validation workshops have been conducted across various faculty councils.

This socialization and validation process began in the faculty councils with focused groups, including various council members. The following table details the dates, times, and locations of the focused workshops.

The participatory component in the construction of the UDF is extremely important. After eight focused workshops, this participatory exercise was taken to an open stage with the development of the first open participatory workshop on October 4th at 2:00 pm in the Gregorio Caicedo auditorium (Faculty of Civil Engineering). Massive invitations were sent through institutional emails to the entire university community for this workshop.

The event saw the participation of faculty members, students from Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering programs, and administrative staff from various departments such as the Office of Quality Management, Legal Office, Pension Office, Administrative Vice-Rectorate, among others.

We aim to continue sharing this project with the entire university community, so we extend our invitation for everyone to join us in the upcoming meetings and continue building the University Development Plan.
