Unicauca teacher presents conference at the University of Granada about fake news

La Universidad -

César Alberto Collazos attached to the Systems Department of the Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Cauca participated in the Human-Computer Interaction Conference organized by the Center for Research in Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Granada (CITIC-UGR).

Four billion people, more than half of humanity connects to the Internet every day. We Google 40,000 questions per second. We share 27 million images, audios and videos daily. We can tour a drone flight a city that we never visit. The information travels thousands of kilometers in moments and lands in the palm of our hand.

In this way, the conference "Fake News in a hyper-connected world" was presented by the professor from the University of Cauca, César Alberto Collazos, who is part of the programming of the Conference on Human-Computer Interaction organized by the Master in Software Development and the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Granada (CITIC-UGR).

During his speech, the teacher from the Systems Department and Coordinator of the IDIS Group asked the following questions: what do we connect with? How do we discern truthful fake news data? How do we turn information into a tool for development?

“The retransmission of information has a high emotional component. Many times information turned viral, unverified, contributes to causes far removed from those that we sought to support from our phones. Although propaganda and information manipulation are as old as war and politics, the development of new technologies, the democratization of the internet and "big data" have amplified its effects to things hardly imaginable twenty years ago, "says the teacher.

During the virtual event, the conferences "Ethics and Software Design" were also presented, given by Rosa Gil Iranzo from the University of Lleida and "ACHO: Voice assistant for the elderly" given by José Manuel García Alonso from the University of Extremadura.
