#Unicaucano Pride: students from the Alma Mater Caucana won the “Test Your Knowledge Contest 2023”

The students of the Bachelor of Modern Languages, Laura Mercedes Piamba Sánchez and Sebastián Alejandro Rivas Velasco, won first place in the "Test Your Knowledge Contest 2023", a contest organized by the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, within the framework of the celebration of its 50 years as an institution of higher education.

With the purpose of promoting the use of the language through a knowledge contest around a specific topic, the Institute of Languages of the Autonomous University of the West, held the contest "Test Your Knowledge Contest 2023", last April, during the event Palabras Autónomas, held as part of the celebration of the 50 years of the institution and where our students Laura Mercedes Piamba Sánchez and Sebastian Alejandro Rivas Velasco, occupied first place, which undoubtedly fills us with deep pride.

After holding a virtual contest among all the students of the Modern Languages Degree to choose who would represent us in the city of Cali, the outstanding students traveled to the headquarters of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente and confronted the flag-bearing students of different institutions, among which the Central Unit of Valle del Cauca, the Cooperative University of Colombia, the University of Valle, the Antonio José Camacho University Institution, the Santiago de Cali University and, of course, the Autonomous University of the West, making progress successfully in the different categories until winning the final prize.

"The experience was very cool, especially because it was shared with the other universities," said the student Laura Mercedes, who also added that it is vital to take advantage of all the opportunities that are offered at the university, because in addition to the experience that is gained, it is also they obtain interesting incentives to continue with their academic training with more motivation. Thus, the executive director of the Corporation for the Integration and Development of Higher Education in the Colombian Southwest - CIDESCO, Camilo Lezcano Yepes, highlighted the importance of participating in these spaces promoted by the corporation, through its cooperation networks between universities, since what is sought is "to contribute to the development of students' skills in other languages through dynamic spaces," said Lezcano.

Finally, we thank the students for participating in these spaces, raising the name and colors of the University of Cauca, as we are proud to know that our students are taking advantage of the different opportunities that are presented to them, making an effort to be in spaces of competition and feedback, which not only helps them for their academic training, but also for their personal training. We hope to continue sharing this good news with you more frequently, which fills our hearts with emotion and is a faithful example of how we will continue working here to strengthen a University of Excellence and Solidarity.
