Union of wills and efforts in favor of providing elements to the health personnel who provide services in healthcare centers in the city, is carried out by graduates with the support of the professor from the University of Cauca, Adriana Guzmán Velasco.

 

The company Soluciones Textiles de Occidente, Solutexo, from the Business Administration graduate, Andrés Mauricio Sánchez, is making uniforms and face masks for health professionals who work with the help of volunteers, who from their homes joined this initiative and have donated their time and knowledge to be given as a donation to the different health entities in Popayán.

 

In addition to the 580 uniforms and 7,000 face masks manufactured so far, Andrés Mauricio Sánchez, is designing a suit that will be tested in intensive care rooms, to protect health personnel who care for people infected with the COVID19 coronavirus.

 

This initiative came from the economist Carlos Salas Cardona, who interested his childhood friend, Andrés Mauricio Sánchez, high school graduates from the Seminario Menor de Popayán and graduates of the University of Cauca, to unite the wills, work and donations of individuals and companies, including a coffee exporter in Popayán, in order to carry out the purpose of making these elements for the protection of those who are on the front line against the pandemic.

 

"This campaign of social sensitivity was joined by 14 volunteers who from their homes worked tirelessly for ten days to make the uniforms," ​​said the business administrator Andrés Mauricio Sánchez, who also invited citizens, the various entities and companies of the Private sector to join this initiative, because it considers that solidarity is the greatest gift at this time of humanitarian crisis.

 

He added that they also have a network of operators willing to contribute with their work, because they are committed to this cause that seeks to donate uniforms and face masks to all hospital institutions in Cauca. "This is an initiative from the heart and as manager of this company I am offering the infrastructure and knowledge of my work team at the disposal of this campaign that does not seek to generate any personal profit," he said.

 

The uniforms to be donated are two-piece anti-fluids, cover all the skin to avoid contact with the outside, absorb liquids, are easily cleaned and will be sterilized to reduce the risk of contamination, because they are elements of personal protection and occupational exposure for coping with the Covid-19 coronavirus.

 

Carlos Salas Cardona pointed out that in the face of the crisis due to the lack of hospital material to prevent the spread of the coronavirus to doctors, speech therapists, physiotherapists, nurses and cleaning staff, “we started the campaign at the San José University Hospital and then they called us from different healthcare centers in Popayán and del Cauca, so that medical personnel can mitigate the biosafety risk they face by not having the supplies they require, ”said the Unicauca’s graduate.

 

 “The collaboration of the people has exceeded expectations, which is why we continue to feed the production chain; We also receive the support of Textimoda, which is one of the most important fabric suppliers in Popayán; This company gave us material at very low prices, almost at cost ”, said finally one of the promoters of the campaign.

 

This initiative has the support of the professor at the University of Cauca, Adriana Guzmán Velasco, wife of the rector of the institution, José Luis Diago Franco, uniting wills, work and donations from individuals and companies, to carry out the purpose of making said elements aimed at protecting those on the front line against the pandemic.

 

As part of this purpose, the graduates gave 100 masks to the surveillance personnel and drivers of the University, who are providing their services during this time of isolation.
