The University of Cauca committed to the event "Live Popayán in Bogotá"

From March 10 to 15, the “Live Popayán in Bogotá” event is held, through several representative samples of the different activities that stand out in the Cauca capital, including Popayán Book City that is led by the Vice-Rector's Office for Culture and Well-being of the University of Cauca.

                        

With the participation of the Vice-rectory of culture and well-being, the Faculty of Arts and the Editorial Seal, the Universidad del Cauca is part of “Vive Popayán in Bogotá”, an event promoted by the Mayor of the city with the purpose of projecting the cultural and artistic heritage to through the exhibition of different activities that take place in the city.

 

"The University of Cauca is Popayán and it was our obligation to accompany the Municipal Administration, given that the history of the City is associated with the History of the Alma Mater of the Caucans," said José Luis Diago Franco, rector of the University of Cauca.

 

The Vice-rector for Culture and Well-being, Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, indicated that the University of Cauca has articulated in the best way with the Mayor's Office of Popayán supporting this purpose of making the city visible as a tourist destination nationwide.

 

Popayán Book City, the Religious Music Festival, the Gastronomic Congress, the Short Film Festival, the Festijazz and the Easter Procession, are part of the programming that takes place in the capital of the republic, and that can be seen in the facilities of the National Museum in Bogotá until Sunday March 15.

 

"Bogotá will witness the most representative cultural samples of Popayán, for this the University of Cauca participates with several of its artistic groups that are part of the Faculty of Arts. In addition, in the programmed agenda, one of the five city events that were selected from the sample is "Popayán Book City", which is consolidated as the most representative of the cultural dynamics of the region, hence the importance to make it visible in this space ”, clarified the Vice Rector.

 

This alliance with the National Museum, the Mayor's Office of Popayán and the University of Cauca, seeks to promote tourism and recognize Popayán as the cultural capital of Colombia. "We are going to the gatherings within the event in which the history of Popayán is going to be recreated, in addition to highlighting the literature of Popayán, as well as its writers, because we believe that those stories and that is the talent that the University has, and it is necessary that the whole country knows it, this space should become a great opportunity to make the cultural wealth of our city visible, a purpose that the Universidad del Cauca is committed to, ”stressed Vice-Chancellor Hurtado Herrera.
