Graduate of the University of Cauca is appointed president of the National Commission of Judicial Discipline

Carlos Arturo Ramírez Vásquez, a lawyer graduated from the University of Cauca and holder of a master’s degree and specialization in Criminal and Criminological Sciences from Externado University of Colombia, was appointed president of the National Commission of Judicial Discipline, a decision adopted during an ordinary session of the Full Chamber of this high court that recognizes his trajectory in the legal field and his commitment to the administration of justice in the country.
Carlos Arturo Ramírez Vásquez is a lawyer from the University of Cauca, an institution that throughout its history has consolidated itself as a benchmark in the training of professionals committed to the country, from which graduates have emerged who today occupy leadership positions in different public and academic spheres. Along this path of academic formation, the current president of the National Commission of Judicial Discipline strengthened his professional profile by obtaining a master’s degree and specialization in Criminal and Criminological Sciences from Externado University of Colombia, in addition to pursuing doctoral studies in Law at universities in Argentina and Colombia, complementing his trajectory with specialized training in disciplinary law, criminal cassation, and a master’s degree in Legal Argumentation from the University of León.

With more than three decades of experience in public service and in the legal field, he has held positions of great responsibility such as Delegate Attorney before the Criminal Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, principal magistrate and auxiliary magistrate of the Disciplinary Jurisdictional Chamber, as well as criminal circuit judge and advisor to the Congress of the Republic in different instances. Added to this trajectory is his work in the administrative sector of the State and his contribution to academia as a university professor and lecturer in disciplinary and criminal law.

Likewise, he has participated as co-author of the Lawyer’s Disciplinary Code and the General Disciplinary Code, was part of the Constitutional Drafting Commission for the Accusatory System in Colombia, and is the author of legal works that have contributed to academic reflection in the country.

With this new appointment, Carlos Arturo Ramírez Vásquez assumes the leadership of a key body for transparency and disciplinary oversight in the Judicial Branch, carrying with him not only a broad professional trajectory, but also the hallmark of education from the University of Cauca. In this way, the caucana Alma Mater reaffirms its role as Patrimonio de Todos, an institution from which professionals are projected who contribute to the country with knowledge, ethics, and commitment, demonstrating that within its classrooms men and women are educated who are capable of transforming lives and making dreams come true.
