“Philosophy, Ethics, Morality, and Law from a Latin American Perspective” was the title of the forum that brought together five distinguished Latin American philosophers: Alcira Bonilla, Silvana Rabinovich, Juan Carlos Aguirre, Alejandro Rosillo, and Alejandro Medici. The forum, which took place both virtually and in person at the Virginia Gutiérrez Auditorium of the University of Cauca, sought to establish an interrelation among three thematic areas that framed the discussion.

“The motivation for holding this event is to foster critical intercultural dialogue between the approaches we have already been developing in the Department of Philosophy, approaches from Western philosophy and Latin American alternatives,” stated Professor Diana Alejandra Soto Ossa.

“The latter show us how, from Latin America, we are thinking about ourselves and the direction in which we are projecting ourselves, how our own Latin American thinkers draw from Western philosophy; however, they take it and rework it in and for our continent. It is a philosophy that calls us to the liberation of peoples, the liberation of nature, and of that humanity that has suffered over the past decades.”
