Ten students from the Chemistry program at the University of Cauca presented their papers during the event held at the University of Valle.

Between April 22 and 25, the 1st Colombian Congress on Natural Products, “Science and Technology in Harmony with Biodiversity,” was held at Universidad del Valle. The event was previously known as the Colombian Congress of Phytochemistry, a name that was changed in order to honor the diversity of natural product sources beyond plants.

A group of students from the University of Cauca took part in the event. They are members of the research seedbed of the Bioactive Compounds Chemistry Research Group, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. The five research projects were supervised by researcher Professor Fernando Hernández Blanco and fall within the research lines of Conservation, Propagation, and Studies on the Composition of Promising Plant Species; Evaluation of Biological Activity; Evaluation of Contaminants and Remediation (Nanomaterials and Bioremediation); and Analytical Chemistry.
