For Professor Olver, this participation represents both a recognition and an opportunity to continue strengthening the academic and research work of the Accounting, Society and Development research group, recognized by Minciencias in Category A. In this regard, he states with notable pride that “Participating in this university space is a recognition of the academic and research work we carry out from a critical perspective and critical thinking, within the research group ‘Accounting, society and development.’ Moreover, it is a singular opportunity as a setting for the socialization and dissemination of research initiatives, as well as for reflections that run counter to central issues and problems of the accounting profession and discipline, this time in other ways, as was the guiding principle of this international event.”

In the same way, this member of the University of Cauca community also highlighted the commitment that new generations of male and female accountants must assume in the face of the epistemological and social challenges of the profession: “Our message to students and to the new generations has to do with embracing the idea that: the essence lies in the depths and is not scattered on the surface; therefore, in this task, rigor and analytical depth remain essential, as well as mobilizing research as an essential and strategic matter, precisely for a profession and a discipline that need to rethink themselves as complex and dense matters, where inter- and transdisciplinary practice is both urgent and inevitable.”
