Most of the trees to be intervened are eucalyptus trees, an introduced species that presents self-pruning characteristics, which facilitates the natural falling of branches, especially in very mature specimens. These conditions, together with the recent effects of climate change and events involving falling trees recorded in the city, motivated the execution of the project. In this sense, to guarantee the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and the operational team, partial and temporary closures will be implemented on some road sections. According to Diana Marcela Legarda, the engineer in charge of the Traffic Management Plan, the closures will be of short duration: “Preventive closures of approximately 15 minutes are planned while pruning or tree removal work is carried out. Afterwards, passage will be restored. The objective is to guarantee everyone’s safety.” Among the adopted measures are temporary detours and signage at strategic points, especially on the road toward Cerritos de la Paz. Authorities recommend driving cautiously, paying attention to signage, and following the instructions of field personnel.
