Unicauca and Movilidad Futura will work for the transformation of public transportation in the Cauca capital!

With the signing of the framework cooperation agreement, the interest in promoting innovation processes in public transportation services is demonstrated.

The University of Cauca and the Strategic Public Passenger Transportation System of Popayán, Movilidad Futura S.A.S., have signed a framework agreement that promises to transform the mobility experience in the city.

This strategic partnership aims to join efforts across various areas of civil engineering with the purpose of improving the quality of life of Popayán’s residents through concrete and effective actions.

Dr. Juan Carlos Casas Zapata, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, highlights that this agreement represents a valuable opportunity to integrate technical, administrative, and financial resources, enabling the development of strategies aligned with the institutional missions of both organizations.

“We have signed this framework agreement at the right moment. Now we must move forward toward specific agreements in which the University of Cauca, through its research groups and student research teams, contributes its extensive experience and makes its knowledge available.”

For his part, architect Raúl Ibarra Bermúdez, Manager of Movilidad Futura Popayán, emphasizes that the entity is not only responsible for managing the Strategic Public Transportation System, but also for studying how citizens move throughout the city, given the wide variety of transportation modes that exist.

“We are facing major challenges as we work to find comprehensive solutions that improve urban quality of life. We need the continued support of the professionals and technical experts from the University of Cauca to make informed decisions that benefit all the city’s residents.”

Thus, this agreement not only marks the beginning of a meaningful institutional collaboration, but also lays the groundwork for a more sustainable and efficient future for public transportation in Popayán.
