The medicine program is part of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Cauca.  The Agreement No. 203 of May of 1950 issued by the Board of Directors of the University established the program.  The National Ministry of Education qualified the program through Resolution No. 6506 of October 26 of 2007. 

The history of the program has two stages: First, when the faculty started in August of 1835, stayed for a little bit and then had to close due to political instability, crisis in the educational system, wars and state financial problems.  In 1950, the Faculty opens its doors again and has been in continues operations to date.  The very first physicians from the faculty graduated in 1956.  The program obtained High Quality Accreditation for a period of four (4) years by Resolution 465 of February 20, 2004 issued by The National Ministry of Education.  It is registered in the SINES with the code 231.

Modality: The classes are held in a classroom setting.
