Ph.D in Environmental Science
The University of Cauca, the University of Valle, and the Technological University of Pereira, present the academic program of Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences within a cooperation agreement to provide an academic program at the doctoral level that addresses the challenges that exist in south-western Colombia for the construction of a model of sustainable development in line with the realities and the regional, national, and international contexts. The program’s mission is to create from a new approach, a change in scientific culture, which means development and scientific approaches more holistic and integrated. This holistic and integrated approach make a special effort to integrate biophysical and social sciences for the understanding of environmental issues.
Applicant Profile: The Ph.D. in Engineering is aimed at Engineers or professionals with a strong background in Engineering Science, and highly motivated to research and knowledge enhancement.
Graduate Profile • Work in interdisciplinary teams from a technological, ethical, social, political, and economical dimensions, to generate knowledge and suggest alternative solutions to the problems associated with the environment, looking for the sustainable development of the country. • Leading research processes that contribute to the formation of new researchers. • Contribute to the development of the Environmental Sciences by conducting interdisciplinary research. • Generate and develop lines of research through participation in groups or research centers. Implement solutions to environmental problems within the framework of sustainable development, taking into account their commitment and responsibility to human and community development.•
