Alliance for Regional Food Governance holds first discussion in Unicauca

The University of Cauca in conjunction with the Government of Cauca, the Colombian Agricultural Institute - ICA, the Committee of Cattlemen of Cauca, the Committee of Coffee Growers of Cauca and SENA developed the discussion "Successful initiatives for the productivity of the region", an event that took place in the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences.

The University of Cauca as a regional think tank, is the articulating scenario so that, through inter-institutional collaborative work, between the State, the Academy and the Business Sector of the Colombian Southwest, joint actions are taken around the strengthening of Food Governance in the department of Cauca.

"The objective of this alliance is to join forces of all the entities to move the Department forward, and in this way improve the competitiveness of all the productive sectors of the region," said Claudia Hoyos, Secretary of Departmental Agriculture.

Likewise, the Secretary of Economic Development and Competitiveness, Noralba Zapata Gonzáles, indicated that, "We all play a specific role and in this context, each one can contribute to this great alliance from their role."

Thus, in this first space for analysis and reflection, four cases of successful productive initiatives were presented: Agropesca, Asociación Frutos Verdes del Patía, Proyecto Café para La Paz and Asproap, experiences that, beyond being living proof of productive work, They are testimonies of the resilience of Caucas committed to working for and for the Department.

The conversation "Successful initiatives for the productivity of the region" is the first step taken together to build a collaborative work agenda, whose main objective is to convert the department of Cauca into the Food Pantry of the Country, thus ratifying the commitment of the University of Cauca to be the meeting space to concretize the ideas that transform society, from a perspective of Excellence and Solidarity.

Considering the importance of this issue for the region and for the country, it is planned to continue informing our community about other actions and processes that are developed within the framework of this Alliance for Regional Food Governance.
