Unicauca continues institutional commitment to contain COVID 19

The University of Cauca articulates with the Municipal Health Secretariat of Popayán to facilitate the transfer of health personnel to the city's hospitals. The above with the necessary biosecurity measures to protect the members of the university community.

 

The University of Cauca will facilitate the transfer of health personnel who care for patients diagnosed with COVID 19 in the different hospitals in the city of Popayán. With this objective, the loan of a bus has been arranged with a route that goes from the La Paz neighborhood to the Susana López hospital.

 

"At the request of the president of the University  José Luis Diago Franco, we are collaborating to transport health personnel with a route that begins in La Paz, passes through Los Hoyos, arrives at the San José Hospital and ends at Susana López ," said Darío Mauna. , official of the Transportation Area of ​​the University of Cauca.

 

A route has been established for this service that seeks to favor a greater number of health officials who must travel to their workplaces. The personnel assigned to hospital institutions must present their identification card to use the service that will be provided at 6:30 in the morning, 12:30 and 6:30 in the afternoon.

  

"Thank the Rector for this intervention on behalf of us health workers. Thank you very much for the support and hope that the rest of the staff who need it will continue to be taken into account,” said Astrid Mireya Ibarra, ESE official.

 

The articulation to generate these strategies and counteract the effects of COVID 19 are created between the University of Cauca and the Mayor's Office of Popayán through its Municipal Health Secretariat, recognizing the valuable work carried out by health personnel in these moments of crisis.

 

For its part, the Alma Mater “caucana” provided biosafety elements to officials and members of the university community who carry out institutional work during this period of mandatory social isolation.

 

The students who collected food for the neediest and the drivers of the university buses that transport health personnel were the first to receive these supplies. “We deliver alcohol, glycerinated gel for disinfection, gloves and face masks. These are the priority elements to protect health during these tasks,” said Carlos Arturo Mora Obando, Coordinator of Cleanliness at the Universidad del Cauca.
