Within the academic sessions of the Mathematics Institute at the University of Valparaíso in Chile, María del Pilar Astudillo, a lecturer from the Mathematics Department at the University of Cauca, will present a talk entitled 'An Overview of Numerical Methods in Lie Groups.'

Professor María del Pilar Astudillo Fernández, affiliated with the Mathematics Department at the University of Cauca, will deliver a lecture at the Academic Conference to be held at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Valparaíso in Chile on November 29th and 30th.

This lecture is part of a research stay by the professor associated with the research project VRI 6070. It is worth noting that research projects in mathematics contribute to the research mission of the Colombian university, particularly the University of Cauca. Their development is a strategic component in advancing the scientific knowledge required by our country and, of course, our region.

The lecturer will participate with the lecture entitled 'An Overview of Numerical Methods in Lie Groups.' This talk aims to provide a general overview of the numerical methods investigated to approximate zeros of functions defined in a Lie group on its respective algebra. Additionally, developments related to some of the most well-known iterative methods will be presented, including results obtained during the development of the doctoral thesis by María del Pilar Astudillo.

For the University of Cauca, it is highly rewarding to have lecturers participating in these academic spaces that highlight the country's name and our Alma Mater.
