University of Cauca updates its PEI Institutional Educational Project

La Universidad -

The Alma Mater Cauca in the Institutional Improvement Plan 2018 -2022 begins the process of updating the PEI Institutional Educational Project with different virtual participation strategies.

The University of Cauca through Superior Agreement 096 of 1998 established the PEI Institutional Educational Project, where it defines its mission, inherent to its public nature, it contributes to social development through the integral formation of people; assumes autonomously and with a sense of ethical and social responsibility the dynamics of the challenges of the 21st century in the field of higher education, in response to the context of regional, national and international realities.

In this way, in its process of continuous improvement, it deems appropriate to introduce pertinent changes in the PEI, in order to facilitate the necessary adjustments in its academic, research, social interaction, projection and management practices, relevant in the formation of human talent for potentiate cultural, scientific, technological, political, economic, social and environmental interactions, as well as knowledge management in the various fields of science, technology, the arts and cultures.

With this objective, the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation leads a proposal framed in the Institutional Improvement Plan 2018 - 2022, product of the previous institutional accreditation process of 2013, and for this purpose a series of strategies has been proposed virtual participatory programs that include the email pei@unicauca.edu.co, where suggestions, observations and concerns regarding this project will be received.

The process of updating the PEI Institutional Educational Project, expresses its main purposes and purposes collected in the Institutional Mission, product of the collective construction of being, knowledge and the work of the university community around its fundamental axes.

The above, framed in Agreement 02 of 2020 of the National Council of Higher Education CESU, in its article 20 that considers that the PEI is a fundamental reference in higher education institutions for the development of work, both training, academic, scientific, cultural and extension; as well as planning, administration and self-regulation in all its sphere of influence and the modalities that the institution determines.

In this sense, the update of the PEI proposes the vision of the University of Cauca, faithful to its motto "POSTERIS LUMEN MORITURUS EDAT" as a historical-social, vital and permanent commitment with the construction of an equitable and just society, in training of an integral, ethical and supportive human being.

And in the mission, it arises from the conception of an institution of public, autonomous, national higher education, created in the origins of the Republic of Colombia. Founded on its tradition and historical legacy, it is a cultural project that has a vital and permanent commitment to social development, through critical, responsible and creative education. Forms people with ethical integrity, relevance and professional suitability, democrats committed to the well-being of society in harmony with the environment. The University generates, develops and socializes the sciences, techniques, technologies, arts and cultures through teaching, research, innovation and social interaction.

From this conception it proposes the following principles:

The Valuation of the life and dignity of the Human Being, overcoming all forms of discrimination, exclusion and inequity.

Freedom and Autonomy, essential principles to train people capable of making decisions with freedom and responsibility.

Democracy and Participation, within the framework of a Social State of Law that guarantees the full individual and social development of people.

Peaceful Coexistence, necessary for the recognition of divergences of thought and the management of territorial and national peace.

Honesty and Co-responsibility, through work environments guided by ethical, moral and legal values, within the plurality of thought and respect for individual and social rights.

Socio-environmental Responsibility in favor of a sustainable campus oriented to the protection of the natural environment and the management of solutions to environmental problems.

Academic Excellence and Continuous Improvement, the hallmark of a University with high quality accreditation.

Likewise, it sets out general and specific objectives, and guidelines for institutional planning that include the Promotion of academic excellence; Consolidation of research, innovation, entrepreneurship and social interaction; Conditions for well-being and culture; Strengthening and optimization of administrative management and Quality improvement.
