The Colombian Society of Entomology highlights the photographic work of the Unicaucano graduate.

Environmental engineer José Fernando Ordoñez won first place in the photography contest in the arthropod photography and arthropod constructions categories during the 50th Congress of the Colombian Society of Entomology (SOCOLEN) held in the city of Medellín.

Within the framework of the 50th Congress of the Colombian Society of Entomology (SOCOLEN), which took place from July 26th to 28th at the National University, Medellín campus, José Fernando Ordoñez, a graduate from the Environmental Engineering program at the University of Cauca, secured first place in the photography competition in the two proposed categories (arthropod photography and arthropod constructions). In this regard, the event organizers recognized the quality of the work accomplished.

José Fernando Ordoñez is a photographer specialized in landscape and nature photography with over seven years of experience. He is part of the Research Seedbed in Functional Diversity and Ecosystem Services, led by Professor María Cristina Gallego Ropero.

The SOCOLEN Congress, themed "Energy and Alternatives," takes place every year in a different city, involving various Higher Education Institutions, Research Centers, among others. Its objective is to exchange knowledge on research and applications of Entomology and related sciences that are being developed to enrich the discipline and promote this science for the benefit of the community.
