This unique event invites the local community and visitors to immerse themselves in an unprecedented cultural experience, with free access to all activities. The program includes a wide variety of events, ranging from artistic and literary workshops, conferences, and book presentations, to live performances, ensuring a diverse lineup for every attendee.
The event reflects the commitment of public and private institutions to culture and education, providing an inclusive and accessible space for intellectual and creative enrichment. “Popayán Ciudad Libro” is not only a celebration of literature but also a platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, promoting civic participation in the arts and culture.
The agenda will feature local guests such as composer and singer-songwriter Jairo Ojeda, the father of children’s music, poet Elvira Alejandra Quintero, and writers Víctor Paz Otero and Juan Esteban Constaín; national guests including writers Gilmer Mesa, Mauricio Silvia, Manolo Bellón, producer Gonzalo Villalón, one of the most influential figures in the entertainment industry, illustrator Carolina Preciado, and one of the country’s most promising young poets, Fadir Delgado; and international guests such as Mexican poet Gabriela Jauregui, Brazilian writer Sônia Queiroz, Cuban artist La Palabra, and Luciana Cadahia from Argentina.
This event invites attendees to share and experience new encounters in which renowned authors and artists convey their literary passion and knowledge to the public.
From the organizing committee, we extend an open invitation for everyone to join the seventh edition of “Popayán Ciudad Libro.”
It is worth mentioning that this is a space led by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Culture and Well-Being at the University of Cauca, in partnership with the Institución Universitaria Colegio Mayor del Cauca, the University of Cauca Publishing House, and the Cultural Agency of the Banco de la República, Popayán branch. Additionally, it is supported by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge and sponsored by the transportation companies Translibertad S.A.S. and Transpubenza Ltda.
