Great representation of the Cauca Alma Mater on European soil: this is how the enriching academic stay at the Complutense University of Madrid was experienced

Professor Isabel Muñoz Zambrano, from the Speech Therapy Program, completed a four-day academic visit at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) to share her research contributions in the field of Logopedics.

Between October 7 and 11, 2024, the Complutense University of Madrid enthusiastically welcomed Professor Isabel Muñoz Zambrano, a faculty member of our Speech-Language Pathology Program. Her visit took place within the framework of an academic stay in the Speech-Language Therapy program, an area dedicated, according to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), to the study and treatment of speech and language disorders.

The purpose of this visit was to advance a research project registered with the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research (VRI) at the University of Cauca, promoting collaborative work between the two universities.

“I presented the results of my research, taught classes for master’s students in Speech-Language Therapy, and gave a lecture to the speech-language therapists at the university clinic.

In addition, I met with the Office of Interinstitutional and International Relations (ORII) of the University of Cauca to advance the framework agreement of cooperation with the Speech-Language Pathology program of our institution,” explained Professor Isabel, describing the experience as “very productive and providing great visibility for our Speech-Language Pathology program.”

It is worth highlighting that Professor Isabel is a Speech-Language Pathologist with postgraduate studies in health projects and epidemiology, and she has extensive experience in research processes.

She currently coordinates the Research Improvement Committee of the Speech-Language Pathology program and is a member of the Research Committee of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

As if that were not enough, she also directs the Communication, Health, and Social Development Research Group within the same program, which is recognized by Colciencias. She has published books and articles in indexed journals on epidemiology applied to speech-language pathology, which is remarkable.

In this regard, the University of Cauca takes pride in seeing its professors excel on international platforms, where their contributions and knowledge help enrich the exchange of expertise and strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between our institution and other higher education institutions worldwide.
