The Association for Human–Computer Interaction (AIPO) has announced the winners of its 10th Competition for Bachelor’s Final Projects (TFG) and Master’s Final Projects (TFM) in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI). In the latter category, the research project “Usability Evaluation Heuristics for E-commerce Platforms,” by Alejandra Yicel Vargas Muñoz, a doctoral student in Electronic Sciences at the University of Cauca, was recognized.
The research was presented during the 25th International Conference on Human–Computer Interaction (Interacción 2025), held at the University of Valladolid, Spain, from September 2 to 5, 2025. Alejandra Yicel Vargas Muñoz delivered her presentation on September 3 in a special session dedicated to the award-winning works.

The document recognized as a Master’s Final Project (TFM) expands upon previous work on usability evaluation heuristics for e-commerce platforms through a detailed experimental process aimed at validating and refining the proposed set of heuristics.
The results revealed significant insights into the platform’s usability, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. This process not only identified shortcomings, but also enabled the adjustment and optimization of the heuristic questions to better reflect users’ needs and expectations. The findings contribute to the continuous improvement of e-commerce platform usability and provide valuable knowledge for the research community in usability and user experience.
“This achievement underscores the relevance of her research in the field of usability and the evaluation of e-commerce platforms, and it also reaffirms the academic and international projection of graduates of the University of Cauca,” stated Professor César Alberto Collazos, who, together with Professor Antoni Granollers of the University of Lleida (Spain), supervised Alejandra Yicel Vargas Muñoz’s Master’s thesis.
