With substantial progress in institutional self-evaluation and collective participation that strengthens a culture of quality, the University of Cauca moves forward steadily toward its goal of reaccreditation.

The second semester of 2025 is consolidated as a decisive stage in the University of Cauca’s journey toward the Renewal of Institutional Accreditation. Each advancement, each meeting, and each collective contribution confirm that the goal is increasingly within reach and that this process has gone beyond fulfilling a requirement to become a profound exercise in institutional reflection and improvement.

This process has transcended compliance with a regulatory requirement to become a deep exercise in reflection, learning, and continuous improvement. This was evidenced during the session of the Institutional Accreditation Committee, held in the Council Chamber, where the main advances and key aspects of the process developed throughout the semester were presented. The meeting reaffirmed the institutional commitment to a participatory, rigorous self-evaluation oriented toward excellence.

One of the most significant milestones is the progress in drafting the Final Institutional Self-Evaluation Report, which has reached 80% completion and is currently in its third version. This document compiles strengths, lessons learned, and evidence that reflect the hallmark of High Quality that characterizes the Alma Mater. Its development has been the result of coordinated work among various academic and administrative units, which contributed information and evidence, reaffirming that reaccreditation is a collective and shared-responsibility process.

More than a requirement, this exercise has been embraced as an opportunity to honestly assess the present and project the institutional future. This was expressed by Rector Deibar René Hurtado, who stated that “accreditation is not a procedure, but a permanent opportunity to review who we are and to project the institution we want to consolidate,” a vision that has guided every stage of the process.

According to the institutional schedule, the submission of the final report to the National Accreditation Council (CNA) is planned for the first quarter of 2026, between the months of March and April. Subsequently, the schedule for the academic peer review visit will be defined, a moment for which the entire university community must be prepared, aware that the stage ahead requires commitment, coordination, and active participation.

During this session, the PREST platform was also presented, a tool aimed at strengthening the institutional culture of quality beyond regulatory compliance, by supporting self-evaluation, monitoring, and process planning. Its incorporation reflects the University of Cauca’s commitment to innovation, strategic management, and continuous improvement.

On the other hand, throughout the semester, and within the framework of the commemoration of the Institution’s 198th anniversary, the communication campaign Get on the Accreditation Bus was carried out. Activities were held across the faculties, inviting students, professors, and administrative staff to share messages about how, through their daily work, they contribute to this collective dream of reaccreditation and institutional projection, as part of the initiatives developed on the road to the Bicentennial of the University of Cauca.

The voices of the university community were present, reaffirming that the renewal of institutional accreditation is not a distant or external process, but a shared construction experienced from every classroom, office, and academic space. This collective commitment strengthens the sense of belonging and projects the University toward a future in which quality is built day by day.

Today, the accreditation bus moves forward along a new stretch of the journey. At this point in the route, each passenger is an essential part of the trip and a protagonist of a milestone that our Alma Mater is close to achieving.

As expressed by Alexander Buendía, director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation: “This is not an individual or circumstantial achievement, but the result of a community that understands that quality is built through daily actions, with commitment and conviction. Every member of the University of Cauca community is, at the same time, an ambassador and a protagonist of institutional reaccreditation, a goal that is achieved together and that proudly reaffirms who we are and where we are going.”

Because together, we make history!
