On the morning of Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Auditorium 401 of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences, led by the Disability Program of The Alma Mater of Cauca, Unicauca ConSciente, the Association of Deaf People of Popayán, and La Pamba Educational Institution held the roundtable discussion “Hands that speak and eyes that listen,” an academic and cultural event organized within the framework of the International Day of Deaf People. It was a moving gathering that not only made it possible to reflect on the importance of sign language, Deaf identity, and Deaf culture, but also brought to the forefront the institutional responsibility to guarantee accessibility, retention, and equity in higher education.
