The University of Cauca will host Colombia 4.0, the country’s most important event for technology and digital creative industries.

The University of Cauca was chosen as a regional venue for Colombia 4.0, the country’s most important event on technology, innovation, and digital creativity. In its 15th edition, this gathering, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC) and supported by departmental governments, city councils, and higher education institutions, among others, will take place at the Cauca Alma Mater on August 27 and 28, establishing it as a strategic hub for digital development in southwestern Colombia.

This nationally renowned event will provide a unique opportunity for students, professors, entrepreneurs, and the wider community to engage with the latest technology trends, strengthen ties with key industry stakeholders, and explore new opportunities to grow within the creative and digital industries. For the University of Cauca, hosting Colombia 4.0 represents a decisive step in consolidating its commitment to academic excellence and technological transformation. It also marks a significant achievement in advancing its Institutional Development Plan, “For an Excellent and Supportive University”, particularly its fifth strategic axis, which promotes the modernization of administrative and functional processes as well as technological innovation.

Thus, Colombia 4.0 arrives this year at the University of Cauca as a space for learning, inspiration, and growth, not only for the university community but also for the public at large. We therefore invite students, entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, and anyone interested in the digital and creative industries to actively participate in this free event, which will offer conferences, workshops, experience showcases, and networking spaces with national and international experts. In doing so, it becomes an unmissable opportunity to connect with global technology trends, strengthen skills, and open new doors for the digital development of our region.

“Through a coordinated effort between the Vice-Rector’s Office for Research, the Division of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Community Engagement (DAE), the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, the Occupational Health department, and the Security, Control, and Mobility department, and with the DAE acting as the bridge between academia and government, we have demonstrated that our Unicauca not only has the capacity to host an event of this magnitude, but can also integrate it into the regional innovation ecosystem of our department, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and to technological leadership at the national level,” expressed Yady Gómez, Head of the DAE, visibly moved.

In the case of our university, whose reputation in the technological sector continues to grow thanks to the quality of the professionals trained here, positioning us as a cradle of talent that shines in global competitions such as the Huawei ICT Competition, these achievements are a reminder that education is the path forward. For Alejandro Toledo, Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, hosting such a high-standard event is a strong endorsement of the educational work carried out with dedication from the regions, because knowledge is not only generated from central hubs. Regarding the news of being chosen as the host for Cauca, he notes: “For the first time, Colombia 4.0 reaches the regions, because digital talent is not only in the big cities, it’s here in Cauca, in our people, in our ideas. We will have incredible conferences, workshops, commercial showcases, spaces to connect with companies, and best of all: opportunities for local talent to shine and connect with the digital world.”

Without a doubt, this coordinated effort reaffirms Unicauca’s commitment as an open-door institution, where knowledge is shared and innovation is lived. As an institution that is #HeritageOfAll, and which on this occasion will host one of the most important events in the country’s technology and creative sectors, we could not be more delighted to welcome both our own community and visitors. For two days, our Alma Mater will become the epicenter of digital talent, hosting Colombia 4.0, a platform that, over its 15 editions, has brought together the most outstanding industry leaders, consolidating networks of learning, collaboration, and growth for southwestern Colombia.
