Through Resolution R – 0196 of February 18, 2025, the University of Cauca calls on the student body to elect representatives to the Superior Council, Academic Council, and Culture and Well-being Council.
The registration of candidates, which took place from February 18 to March 18, concludes with the election process scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2025, through the institutional voting system SIVOT, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
According to the aforementioned administrative act, the requirements to be a candidate for the different councils are as follows:
Be a regular student of the institution in Popayán or enrolled in the Regional Programs.
Have completed and passed at least 50% of the respective academic program, achieving a grade point average of no less than 3.5.
Not be sanctioned with cancellation of enrollment, expulsion, or criminal penalties.
Representation will begin on April 18, 2025, and students will be able to deliberate and mobilize without any impediment, ensuring a democratic, participatory, and equitable electoral debate in accordance with university principles.
Meet the candidates who wish to serve as student representatives as follows:
For the representation of students on the Superior Council, the nominees are Joan Sebastián Salazar Ortiz from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences; Luna Sofía Henao and Juan José Ponce Sandoval from the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences; and from the Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, the student María Paula Barrera Muñoz has submitted her candidacy.
For the Academic Council, the students Laura Melisa Meza Urbano and Wilder Bonilla Díaz from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences are running, with Wilder Bonilla Díaz representing the Regional Programs. Likewise, candidates Angélica María Escobar Ahón and Astrid Carolina Galíndez Hoyos are from the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences.
For the Culture and Well-being Council, the candidates are students María Del Mar Rojas Castrillón from the Faculty of Arts; Lucía Cristina Bambague Orozco from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences; and Laura Vanessa Muñoz Dueñas from the Faculty of Natural, Exact, and Education Sciences.
Students of the University of Cauca will participate through electronic, universal, uninominal, and secret voting, choosing among these candidates for a one-year statutory term in the three central governing bodies.
It should be clarified that for this election, in accordance with Articles Six and Seven, Section 6 of Resolution R-0200 of April 13, 2021, and in line with the certification issued by the Division of Admissions, Registration, and Academic Control, the number of students eligible to vote is as follows:
Students in the Regional Programs: 1,949
Students in Popayán: 14,233
Total Students of the Institution: 16,182
