Unicauca students present the results of their research in entomology

The 51st Congress of the Colombian Entomological Society (SOCOLEN) was the platform for undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Cauca to present their research on the ecology, DNA, and diversity of bees, beetles, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, wasps, dipterans, among other groups.

With a delegation of 22 undergraduate Biology students and 3 students from the Master’s Program in Biology, all members of the Research training group in Functional Diversity and Ecosystem Services of the GEA Group, the University of Cauca participated in the 51st Congress of the Colombian Society of Entomology. The event took place on July 10, 11, and 12 at Universidad Santiago de Cali, bringing together various actors interested in the study of insects to share research results and advances in knowledge and management of this diverse group.

In this context, the students, accompanied by the professor from the Department of Biology, researcher and curator of the Entomology Collection of the Natural History Museum, María Cristina Gallego Ropero, took part in this important event as presenters in both oral presentation and poster modalities.

During their presentations, they shared progress and results from various research projects they have carried out on insect-related topics. Results were presented on the ecology, DNA, and diversity of bees, beetles, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, wasps, dipterans, among other groups, representing the University of Cauca.
