This institution, which is #HeritageForEveryone, invites its university community and all interested parties to learn about the achievements reached and the challenges overcome during 2024 at its Public Accountability Hearing. This is a space for transparency and civic participation, where the current university leadership will present the progress of the 2023–2027 Institutional Development Plan, titled “For a University of Excellence and Solidarity”, a roadmap that continues to guide us in weaving dreams that transform lives.
It is precisely in this context that Rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera highlights some of the recent milestones that will be shared on Thursday, May 22, at the Francisco José de Caldas Auditorium:
“Looking back at the work carried out in 2024, I consider the most significant achievement to be the approval of the Stamp Law and its corresponding Ordinance by the Departmental Assembly, which increased the university’s stamp collection to 1%. I also want to highlight the efforts made with the Immediate Transition to Higher Education Program (PTIES), which allowed young people from remote municipalities with limited access to higher education to join the University of Cauca. Likewise, I emphasize the support provided by the Vice-Rectorate for Research, which facilitated the participation of our research groups and investigators in the promotion call, whose preliminary results are very positive for the University. Finally, noteworthy are the qualified registrations obtained in preparation for the institutional reaccreditation in 2027, and the ISO 9001 certification, awarded by ICONTEC, which contributes to strengthening our academic and administrative management.”
In this regard, it is important to remember the role played by the Internal Control Office as the department responsible for evaluating administrative processes within the institution. “From the Internal Control perspective and as the third line of defense, we highlight as best practices in the 2024 Accountability Report the spaces that promote transparency, the participation of the university community, and shared responsibility. We also emphasize the publication and dissemination of reports, progress, and management results through the University’s institutional media, as this guarantees the right to information for our stakeholders, thereby contributing to the strengthening of trust,” stated Lesly Sahur Garzón, Head of the Internal Control Office at the Alma Mater of Cauca.
Meanwhile, Andrés Felipe Rivera Fierro, Head of the Office of Institutional Planning and Development, spoke about the percentage of progress regarding the execution of the current Institutional Development Plan: “The progress of the management and financial execution goals has exceeded the expectations of our initial strategic matrix. In fact, the planning of our action plans for the first and second years of the rectoral term has surpassed 100% of the expected targets, achieving a cumulative percentage greater than 40%; a figure consistent with the elapsed execution time of the Institutional Development Plan ‘For a University of Excellence and Solidarity.’ In conclusion, the balance is excellent and is the result of the constant monitoring and follow-up that the Planning Office provides to all university departments.”
Thus, next Thursday, Unicauca will open the doors of one of its most emblematic venues, the Paraninfo, so that students, professors, administrative staff, and all those who feel a connection with this institution can gather once again. Building a University of Excellence and Solidarity is a collective commitment, in which every member plays a key role. For this reason, our institution invites everyone to join, participate, and see firsthand how public resources are managed, as well as the achievements and challenges faced together. The voice, questions, and presence of the community are essential to continue strengthening this dream we call University.
