For their work on territorial demands of diversity and economic subjectivities in the post-pandemic context, as well as the valuation of biocultural heritage in rural communities of southwestern Colombia, the students of the Master’s Program in Interdisciplinary Development Studies, María Fernanda Rocha Pisso, Angie Vanessa Rodríguez Navia, and Luis Miguel Sevilla España, are the scholarship recipients of the call “Training of High-Level Human Capital to Promote Community Social Leadership and Face the 4IR in the Department of Cauca.”
This institutional project of the University of Cauca is conducted within the framework of the “Call for CTeI Allocation of the SGR for the Formation of a List for the Training and Insertion of High-Level Human Capital in the Regions, 2021–2022,” from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the General System of Royalties. One of its specific objectives is to compile a list of eligible project proposals aimed at the training of high-level human capital at the master’s research level in the regions.
In this regard, each of the three scholarship recipients from the graduate program presents their academic life stories as follows:
Angie Vanessa Rodríguez Navia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Basic Education with an emphasis on Spanish Language and English from the University of Cauca. She has prior experience as a curriculum writer in environmental education, with a pedagogical focus for different school levels, based on the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations.
María Fernanda Rocha Pisso is a Geographer, awarded the University of Cauca Medal in its Guillermo Valencia designation for academic excellence according to Resolution No. 087 of 2022. She has experience with Geographic Information Systems through software such as ArcGIS and QGIS, as well as the development of community participatory mapping from rural geography and local development processes. She is currently a researcher with the Antropos Research Group at the University of Cauca and an entrepreneurial Caucan, owner of the brand Poesis de la hoja a la gota.
Luis Miguel Sevilla España holds a degree in Financial Administration from the University of Tolima in partnership with the University of Cauca, and a specialization in Government and Public Policies from the University of Cauca. He is a member of GNOSIS OS, a corporation that brings together professionals, university students, and social actors to promote positive socio-natural transformations through the creation and dissemination of knowledge on sustainability and sustainable organizations. His research initiative focuses on analyzing cooperativism in northern Cauca in the post-pandemic period.
Institutional projects like this aim to address the territorial demands defined by the Department of Cauca, particularly at the master’s level, and to develop the human capital competencies that foster community social leadership. In this case, the program supports three scholarship recipients from the Master’s Program in Interdisciplinary Development Studies, a graduate program of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic, and Administrative Sciences.
