26 Unicaucanos present their research at the XI Chilean Congress of Forest Sciences

A team of 24 students and two professors from the Forest Engineering program at the University of Cauca, all members of the Applied Silviculture Research Training Group, represented the institution at the 9th Chilean Congress of Forest Sciences, held from October 22 to 26 on the campus of the Austral University of Chile in Valdivia. At the event, a total of seven oral presentations and four posters were presented, showcasing innovative research in the forestry field.

The Chilean Congress of Forest Sciences brought together experts from various countries, providing a space for academic exchange. “This experience was very enriching, since in addition to sharing our work, it allowed us to learn about other research with very interesting topics similar to those we are studying, which enables us to broaden our perspective on the different lines of research in forest sciences,” stated student Danitza Riascos Gómez about this valuable experience, which also allowed Unicauca students to build connections with other students and professors in the forestry field, strengthening their professional training and their understanding of diverse ecosystems.

Commercial reforestation with native species in Colombia: Experience with Colombian pine (Retrophyllum rospigliosii) – Jorge Andrés Ramírez Correa and Adriana María Marín Vélez.

The outstanding participation of these students and professors reflects the commitment of the University of Cauca to promoting applied research in forest sciences and contributing to knowledge exchange in both regional and global contexts. By presenting innovative studies on crucial topics such as reforestation, material sustainability, and ecosystem conservation, Unicauca’s researchers strengthen their professional profiles and enhance the academic visibility of the institution. This type of initiative not only fosters the development of sustainable environmental solutions, but also consolidates the collaborative network among Latin American researchers in an area of vital importance for the future of the planet.
