Almaguer Ciudad Libro 2024: A Literary Journey

Almaguer Ciudad Libro 2024. Un viaje literario

Cauca Territory Book continues to have a presence in the Cauca region. Almaguer Ciudad Libro came to an end, leaving behind countless stories yet to be told, valuable learnings, and a renewed love for literature, reading, and culture.

During September 5 and 6, residents and visitors of this beautiful municipality in the southeastern part of the department had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world where literature was the undisputed protagonist.

From creative writing workshops to public readings and musical performances, “Almaguer Ciudad Libro” offered a diverse program designed not only to entertain, but also to educate and inspire.

The importance of this project, part of the Cauca Territorio Libro initiative, lay in highlighting literature and the arts as tools for both social and personal transformation.
By bringing books and literary activities to local territories, it fosters inclusion and sparks an interest in reading among people of all ages and backgrounds.

The impact of Almaguer Ciudad Libro was felt in every conversation enriched by new ideas, in every child who discovered the joy of reading, and in every adult who rediscovered the transformative power of the words found on a book’s pages. This event, led by the Vice-Rectory of Culture and Well-Being of the University of Cauca, invited more than 500 hearts to come closer to literature.

As we close this chapter, we carry with us the certainty that literature is a bridge between worlds and realities, an inexhaustible source of empathy, and a light that illuminates the paths toward a more hopeful future. Almaguer Ciudad Libro has been more than an event; it has been a space that reaffirms the importance of bringing literature to local territories, not only as an artistic expression but as a fundamental right for the growth and development of the community.

We extend our gratitude to all the participants, organizers, sponsors, and attendees who made this literary journey possible. With the promise of continuing this noble mission, we say goodbye until the next edition, where the pages of Almaguer Ciudad Libro will once again, perhaps, be written with stories that must continue to be told. The objectives were achieved: 44 activities were carried out (32 workshops and 12 talks), with the participation of 30 people who traveled from the city of Popayán.
