One hundred and eighty Architecture projects were presented by the students of this academic program at the University of Cauca. As part of the third edition of Arqui Exhi-Visiones, the students showcased the projects they developed during the 2025 semester across various courses and research assignments.
According to Professor Víctor Ignacio Muñoz, Arqui Exhi-Visiones highlights the work carried out by University of Cauca Architecture students from the first to the ninth semester, demonstrating the knowledge they acquire in the classroom. “It is an event that fosters integration among faculty, students, invited architects, and the wider community, showcasing the quality of the education received by future graduates of the program.”
Architecture is one of the youngest programs at the University of Cauca, and in its seven years of existence, it is progressing toward High-Quality Accreditation, demonstrating through Arqui Exhi-Visiones the dynamics generated within the program in pursuit of excellence in building this academic community.
In the exhibitions, Architecture students present the ideas and technical foundations of their projects to the external jurors and attending community, which are further strengthened by the feedback they receive. “Seeing an infrastructure, concrete, and bricks generate society, cohesion, and a respectful debate of ideas is wonderful for someone as an architect and citizen,” adds the professor.
For Erick David Campo Gómez, a sixth-semester Architecture student, Arqui Exhi-Visiones is the result of what they are receiving from their professors. “They educate us from the ‘being,’ from understanding the qualities that the territory holds, generating spaces for dialogue and sharing with the people who inhabit it, so that, from this, we can project our work.”
Paula Andrea Chacón Fajardo, a seventh-semester student, notes that the projects presented are the outcome of workshops where they have received solid foundations. “Sometimes the level of demand is challenging, which is a challenge that has helped us grow a lot. It has helped me with patience and organization. The demand I place on myself has been very important in my development as a person. We are increasingly focused on: Who will inhabit the space? How are we going to design for these people? Because, ultimately, they are the ones who will live there. It was very hard work, but seeing the results is extremely rewarding.”
For his part, Professor Julio César Diago from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the academic unit to which the Architecture program belongs, states that Arqui Exhi-Visiones demonstrates the maturity the program has achieved and its consolidation over time. “The program was launched seven years ago, and this is a way of showing the relevance of the University of Cauca when it decided to offer this professional training.”
Architecture is an eminently human discipline, emphasizes architect Víctor Ignacio Muñoz. In this sense, the professional in the field sees in students’ projects and proposals an opportunity to generate a better society through the materialization of their ideas. “Today’s architect is an absolutely social being, coherent with the humanistic vision of the program. And these are the professionals we are shaping at the Alma Mater of the people of Cauca.”
