For three days, as part of the IX Agrarian Week, an academic agenda was carried out with the participation of distinguished professors such as Olga Lucía Cadena, Luis Alfredo Londoño Vélez, Mónica Risueño, Ana María Sandoval, and Diana Villalobos, alongside the launch of a series of books resulting from research processes led by CICAFICULTURA. The event also featured presentations of entrepreneurial projects, an agricultural market with the active participation of producers, academic exhibitions, panel discussions, and a visit from tenth- and eleventh-grade students from secondary education institutions, who explored the “Aprópiate de la FACA” program. In a celebration that integrated culture, knowledge, and flavor, the cultural program was enriched by performances from the choir of the Business Administration Program and the “Voces Unidas” choir of the Speech Therapy Program.
The IX Agrarian Week concluded with a sports day that included the Third Mountain Biking Challenge, the Second Athletics Race in the 5K and 10K modalities, and a marathon of sports dance and Latin rhythms. Thus, with a well-rounded agenda, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences shone in a special way by bringing together so many enthusiasts in its facilities. For this reason, the coordinators of the event publicly expressed their gratitude to the academic and administrative units that joined and committed themselves to the success of the event, as well as to the students, administrative staff, and professors for their active participation. “We deeply thank everyone who made this Agrarian Week possible and extend a warm invitation to the university community to join us in the next edition, where we will continue strengthening learning and connection with the agricultural sector,” stated Clara Parra, a member of the organizing team.
The University of Cauca celebrates and promotes the creation of spaces such as the IX Agrarian Week, which integrate knowledge, recreational activities, and unity among the various actors of our academic and regional community. This event, in addition to its outstanding academic and sports agenda, strengthened the bonds among our university groups (students, professors, alumni) and other participants (such as producers and visitors) around the richness of agrarian knowledge. In this regard, from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences we extend special recognition to professors Gustavo Ordóñez and William Mauna, from the Recreation and Sports Management Division of the Vice-Rectory for Culture and Well-being, as well as to professor Saulo Andrés Chamorro and his group of students from the Bachelor’s Program in Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports, for their invaluable support in the sports programming. Finally, the Faculty invites the entire university community to participate in the next edition, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the academic, cultural, and recreational development of the sector. In this way, we continue sowing for the present, but also for the future.
