Juan Esteban Muñoz Gómez, a Systems Engineering student at the University of Cauca, has taken a giant step in his academic journey by beginning a mobility program at the prestigious University of Dunaújváros in Hungary. This achievement clearly reflects the internationalization efforts promoted by the institution, particularly through its Office of Interinstitutional and International Relations (ORII).

Thanks to the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, offered by the Government of Hungary, and to the ongoing work of the current administration, the University of Cauca community has the opportunity to forge a path in international academic settings. And yes, Juan Esteban, who is notably excited to be living this transformative experience, is a clear example of this. “From the ORII, I was guided to apply to the University of Dunaújváros, with which the University of Cauca has an active agreement. After a preparation process, and with the support of the University, I was finally accepted, thank God,” states this talented young member of the University of Cauca with great enthusiasm.

But why did he decide to embark on this journey? What motivates this experience? His academic project in Hungary focuses on strengthening his knowledge in computer science, exploring new perspectives in innovation and entrepreneurship. Juan Esteban highlighted the importance of sharing classrooms with students and professors from diverse cultures in order to enrich his educational process in a comprehensive way: “Academically, I hope to strengthen my knowledge in computer science and gain new perspectives on innovation and entrepreneurship. Personally, I hope to grow as an individual, learning from a multicultural environment that allows me to broaden my worldview and adapt to new circumstances,” he explains.

Thus, international mobility represents a unique opportunity to complement the solid foundations received at the University of Cauca with a global perspective and to develop essential soft skills that are highly valued in the labor market. “I believe this experience will complement the education I have already received at the University with an international and innovative approach. It will also allow me to strengthen soft skills such as intercultural communication and teamwork with people from different countries, competencies that are fundamental in any professional environment,” he added with excitement.

Finally, Juan Esteban shares a message of motivation for those who dream of accessing international mobility opportunities: “I would tell them not to set limits for themselves, to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the University, and to stay attentive to the calls for applications. To trust in their abilities and to know that with dedication, discipline, and putting God first, dreams can indeed come true.” His emotion is evident as he recognizes how, at his Alma Mater and with real support, lives are truly transformed and dreams become reality.

This achievement, the result of the academic mission carried out in 2024 and led by Rector Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, demonstrates the value of interinstitutional cooperation and the networks woven among regions, countries, and cultures. High-level visits such as those undertaken last year strengthen ties and open doors to opportunities like the one now being experienced by this talented systems engineering student. In this way, the University of Cauca reaffirms its commitment to internationalization, promoting cooperation processes that expand educational opportunities and consolidate its presence on the global stage.
