In 2024, we began our journey toward the Renewal of Institutional Accreditation, a path along which we have been fortunate to experience deeply meaningful moments, marked by the emotion and commitment that characterize not only this type of process, but also those that stem from the warmth of our people, #ProudlyUniversityOfCauca. And since a good amount of time has already passed, there is nothing better than taking stock of how we are writing this important chapter of our history, will you join us?
Well, the adventure began with the establishment of the Accreditation Committee, made up of representatives from the different sectors of our alma mater, who were selected with a clear mission: to join efforts and become the drivers of the bus toward reaccreditation, while also encouraging others to hop on board.
Thus, little by little, we advanced on this journey, discovering key aspects of the process and its importance, while inviting the entire university community to take an active role. For this reason, during the first semester of 2025, we embarked on a special path called “Route 2027”, visiting our faculties and some administrative offices on the main campus in Popayán. During these meetings, students, professors, and administrative staff became the focus of activities designed to share, in a close and educational manner, the elements that support the distinction of being a high-quality university.
But beyond the information shared, these sessions of connection and in-person engagement became a direct invitation to feel part of a collective goal: achieving renewal in 2027! Thanks to Route 2027, students, professors, and administrative personnel completed the institutional self-evaluation survey, a key tool to identify our strengths, recognize opportunities for improvement, and move forward confidently toward achieving our institutional goals.
In parallel, graduates, employers, and administrators also became involved in this effort, and through their perspectives, they further enriched this stage. In total, more than 3,300 members of the University of Cauca community have participated in the surveys, a figure higher than that recorded in the 2018 process. This 13.30% increase reflects greater institutional ownership and a strong sense of belonging on the part of the university community that beats for our distinctive blue and red.
This is also supported by the active cooperation of various academic–administrative units of this house of thought, which worked in coordination with the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation to strengthen this stage, in which broad participation was strategic. The Alumni Office, for example, facilitated the collection of surveys during the “First Alumni Day, Bicentennial Cup,” which was attended by employers and, of course, by those who proudly hold a degree from our University. Likewise, the University’s Publishing Seal promoted a campaign featuring raffles of book packages, encouraging participation from our community. In addition, several academic programs that are currently advancing their own accreditation processes actively joined the institutional effort, contributing their experience and commitment to quality.
In this way, kilometer by kilometer, the accreditation bus is approaching its final stretch. The next stops will focus on strengthening the essential elements needed to reach our destination, which include progress in the Institutional Improvement Plan (which to date shows an 86% level of completion), the drafting and layout of the final self-evaluation report, and the visit of academic peers for the accreditation of programs required to meet the established goal: reaching 60% of accreditable programs.
From this home that is #HeritageForAll, and especially from the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation, we extend our deepest thanks to every member of the University of Cauca community, from their respective roles, for accompanying this stage of the journey in the way they did. Their participation has been key at every step, and it fills us with excitement to see how this shared dream continues to gain strength. Now, we prepare for a new phase in which we will move from being mere passengers to becoming protagonists of institutional accreditation.
Because together we make history, and Reaccredited, we are better!
