In an act that highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and State institutions, the DIAN granted a special recognition to the NAF of the University of Cauca, an initiative led by the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences. It is a very special initiative that has, for years, brought tax knowledge closer to citizens, thanks to the commitment of students and professors who place their knowledge at the service of the community free of charge.
This recognition, received by faculty leaders and students, underscores the social impact that the NAF has achieved in the department of Cauca. Beyond providing technical guidance on tax matters, this process has become a bridge of trust between institutions and people, demonstrating that from this house that is #HeritageOfAll, knowledge is shared, collectively built, and projected to transform lives.
The DIAN particularly highlighted the development of the “Enrútate” initiative, a flagship program of the NAF that seeks to bring institutional services and tax guidance to different territories. This allows communities that do not always have direct access to official information to resolve their concerns and better understand their responsibilities as taxpayers. In these spaces, previously trained students, accompanied by their professors and officials from the entity, provide personalized guidance on income tax returns, electronic invoicing, the Single Tax Registry (RUT), and other fundamental processes for economic and civic life.
In this way, these initiatives not only allow questions to be resolved quickly and at no cost, but also contribute to strengthening a culture of legality, transparency, and shared fiscal responsibility, essential principles for the country’s development. At the same time, they become spaces for practical learning for students, who find in these experiences an opportunity to apply their knowledge, understand the realities of surrounding contexts, and reaffirm the social commitment that characterizes the University of Cauca community’s education. “What ‘Enrútate’ and the daily work of the NAF seek is to bridge the gap that exists between the DIAN and the people. We do not want citizens to see the DIAN as a distant and punitive entity, but as an institution they can turn to for information and to comply properly. This recognition from the DIAN fills us with pride and motivates us to continue working toward a more informed society that is aware of its fiscal responsibility,” explained Professor Edwin Molina.
Thus, through the work carried out through initiatives such as those of the Accounting and Tax Support Center (NAF), the University of Cauca reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education and the social projection of knowledge. It demonstrates that when academia connects with the needs of society, opportunities for learning, service, and collective transformation are created. Because at the University of Cauca, every learning experience becomes an opportunity to transform lives and make dreams come true.
