Holy Week 2026 is just around the corner, and with it, the University of Cauca shares the rich and engaging agenda prepared for the coming days. As every year, Popayán becomes the epicenter of a celebration that intertwines faith, culture, and art. For one week, the Faculties of our Institution, as also happens in the streets and homes of the city, are filled with cultural and religious expressions.
For this reason, the range of activities is designed for all tastes and interests. In this program, you will find a diversity of events that will allow you to enjoy Holy Week in the way you prefer. So, if your goal is to get to know the capital of Cauca better, the different museums of the city will be open to the public, ready to be visited and to offer culture and history to attendees:
Memory Center Panteón de los Próceres
Casa Museo Mosquera
Natural History Museum
Rector’s Office Cloister and “Francisco José de Caldas” Main Hall
Free admission
Additionally, the Office of the Vice President for culture and Wellness has organized a series of must-see workshops and exhibitions:
Clay workshop: “What the hands do not forget”
Collage Workshop: “Fragments of paper land: Intimate cartographies of the territory”
Exhibition: Clothing in the indigenous american world, Costume museum – América University
La ñapanga: woman and society, Costume museum – América University
University heritage route: A l ook at the city from the University
Children’s Museum
Another great plan is to visit the bazaars that will take place in the University of Cauca cloisters, starting with Bazartes: art, music, and design, which will be open from March 31 to April 4 at our Faculty of Arts. In addition, Manos de Oro Fair will be held at the Faculty of Law, Political and Social Sciences from March 29 to April 5, where you will be able to discover local and national ventures that create, inspire, and transform. For nature lovers, the National Orchid Exhibition will take place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (El Carmen) from April 1 to 4.
