Through Communication 054 from the Vice-Rector’s Office, the University of Cauca continues advancing in the Public Merit Competition for the hiring of new full-time professors. On April 9, the results of the second stage of the process were announced, which corresponds to the verification of minimum requirements and the evaluation of the curricula of the registered applicants.
Officially convened through Rectoral Resolution No. 1313 on October 31, 2024, this competition aims to fill 45 vacant positions for faculty in various academic programs. The call, which opened on November 1, 2024 and closed on January 14, 2025, gathered hundreds of applicants from different parts of the country. Subsequently, a thorough review of requirements and a rigorous evaluation of academic and professional profiles were conducted, concluding this stage on January 28, 2025.
With the recent publication of the results, which, as previously noted, can be consulted in detail in Communication 054 from the Vice-Rector’s Office, the competition now moves forward to its third stage, scheduled to begin on April 25. During this new phase, candidates who met the requirements and achieved the necessary score will be called to take a written test or audition, depending on the area or profile being considered.
It is also important to mention that, according to Resolution VRA 173 of April 9, 2025, some positions were declared vacant for not meeting the established minimum requirements. Therefore, interested individuals are encouraged to review this resolution carefully.
This process not only seeks to strengthen the faculty body of the University of Cauca, but also to attract professionals committed to teaching, research, and social outreach. It is an effort to consolidate a university that is #HeritageOfAll and dedicated to training well-rounded professionals committed to building a more just and equitable society. The conclusion of the competition is expected with the appointment on a probationary period for the selected candidates, scheduled for the first academic semester of 2026.
Finally, the University of Cauca sincerely thanks all participants, up to this point, for trusting our institution and for their genuine desire to join this academic community dedicated to quality education, critical thinking, and regional and national development. Their participation strengthens this competition and reaffirms the crucial importance of having educators who share our mission: to educate, research, and transform society through academia. Unicauca reiterates its commitment to a transparent, rigorous process that respects the principles of merit and equality, ensuring that each stage is conducted responsibly and fairly for every applicant.
